“The object isn’t to make art, it’s to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable.”

“ I had an amazing time doing the Ties to Treasures workshop. Barbara’s talent and passion for art is contagious. You can even help a business mind like mine get in touch with my creative spirit!  You can feel your spiritual love and warmth surrounding you!”

- Barbara Friedman

“Barbara Ziev is a gifted teacher and a lovely lady who taught us to release our creativity and enjoy the process with no judgment. Barbara tried to instill in us sentiments of artists. As one such artist ‘sister’ said, “Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing.” - Georgia O’Keeffe.

The process of choosing, placing and transferring the fabric pieces allowed us to connect, support and applaud our friends, all while creating a unique, beautiful, fail-proof personal piece of art we can wear for years to come. It is an experience well worth the price, an adventure to remember.”

- Susan Pivko

“I had great doubts as to my artistic ability in creating a one-of-a-kind silk scarf. To say it came out beautifully is an understatement. Your guidance, patience and knowledge were beyond description. Everyone was shocked with their results and it was so much fun. We all felt that we bonded in a very special fashion and now are delighted to be Arthouse Sisters!”

- Linda Smith

“With your patience, instruction and guidance I came home with a beautiful scarf which I am going to really enjoy! You have created a very comfortable studio for those to come and enjoy and learn a new skill. Look forward to attending more classes in the future!”

- Lynn Glick

“I'd always been curious about cyanotype, and Barbara led the workshop with ease and generosity. She encouraged exploration of the materials, building from the basics. After enjoying that workshop so much, I tried the Ties to Treasure silk scarf workshop. Here, patterns were transferred from silk ties onto a long silk scarf. The process was fascinating, and so much fun as we unrolled each scarf out of the die bath and witnessed the magic!
Barbara is so generous with her time, space, and materials. She is an artistic leader who encourages us to be creative in a safe space with no judgment.”

- Ronnie Gerstel

“What a wonderful workshop! I very much enjoyed the whole process of creating my scarf. The workshop was fairly easy and the results were a little magical and beautiful! I love my scarf and I highly recommend this class.”

“Barbara organizes a great day of creativity!  I had never done cyanotypes and thought I would give it a try. Once we got started, 4 hours flew by!  She was organized and helpful and really encouraged us to get out of our comfort zone. I highly recommend it to all level of artists!”

- Michelle Marra

“I truly love the Arthouse Sisters’ workshops. Barb  is a creative, warm and inspiring artist and her cheery studio is so welcoming. Her classes are of various interesting media and she explains the procedures and guides you on your creative journey. No artistic talent is necessary. I was able to forget about the world outside for a few hours and felt relaxed and happy.

I will certainly sign up for more classes. It’s a chance to meet new women and bond. Lots of laughs and smiles. Kudos to Barb for sharing her passion for creativity with her ever growing Arthouse Sisters.”

“Loved loved loved my two workshops in Cyanotype and Tie to Treasures at Arthouse Sisters. Barbara Ziev is not only a generous wonderful teacher but a creative artist in her own right. Her patience, enthusiasm, and encouragement to each student is inspiring and creates a collegial and fun environment.  I’ll be back!”
